The hardest time of your life is
when you see your loved one lying on bed in a miserable condition. There is
nothing in your hand except doing stuff that can make him feel better. My
grandfather is about seventy nine years old.
You might think that it is quite
a long age and he must be looking very old and feeble. But the truth is that
his looks defies his age when he tell anyone about it. I have met many men in
my life but the mental level that my grandpa possesses is beyond appreciation.
The way he makes the other person feel comfortable in his comes, makes everyone
his fan.
Last summers, my grandpa was in a
park. While walking casually, his walking stick fell out of his hand by
accident and he fell down on a rock with sharp edges. His fell backward where
the rocks were lying. He was rushed to the hospital by the people who were at
the park at that time. He was in great pain and could move his legs because of
it.
The doctor said his lumbar spine
has collapsed very badly and he would not be able to walk now. He said that
they could have fixed it through a surgical procedure but the age of my grandpa
was not worth taking risk for. With a heavy heart we all took grandpa back to
or house. The happy face was not happy anymore. He wanted to walk by himself
but he could not do it.
We tried best to make him feel
comfortable among all for as long as possible. My grandpa is not able to go to
the washroom by himself so that is why we need to make him urinate on the bed.
In the beginning, the mattress used to become so smelly that we had to change
it twice in a month. It was a memory foam mattress which you all know how
expensive it is. We bought a new mattress to use just in case the first one
becomes dirty in any way. The cost to get the mattress clean was very high. It
was, no doubt, an irritating act to pay a large amount to get it cleaned.
One day a doctor came to visit us
and saw an emergency mattress lying underneath my grandpa’s bed. He asked the
reason for putting a mattress under the bed. We told him about it. That was the
first time when he told us to use
mattress quilted protectors. The doctor told us that these were way cheaper
as compared to buying a new mattress every time. He said the cost of getting it
cleaned is even very lower than getting the mattress cleaned.
Just after few days, we bought a
memory foam mattress topper for grandpa. It is no doubt, very affordable.
Grandpa is happy to use it as well. He said it makes him feel comfortable.
